Dave started his playing at Creswell Colliery band. During the 70’s he had spells with many top flight bands including Thoresby Colliery Dosco and Airquick Ransomes.

He played solo baritone at Teversal/ Blidworth Welfare for 15 years and then moved to the top chair at Nottingham City Transport in Championship and first sections for five years. He has guested with many East Midlands and Yorkshire bands during his playing career.

Dave is now enjoying his second spell with Ransomes. An active band member behind the scenes, he is looking forward to a busy contest season in 2006. He is one of the few remaining mineworkers still playing on the brass band circuit. Dave’s two daughters are playing baritone and cornet with a local youth band.
