Tanya (our token northern girl) started playing the cornet at the age of ten and was taught firstly by her grandfather, coming from a large family of band people she was keen to show her worth and soon took professional lessons with Alan Wicherley.

After many years as a flugel horn player with her village band she moved cross country and was keen to experience the wrath of front row cornet playing with the Poulton-le-fylde Band. When returning back home to commence her social work degree she accepted the Repiano seat at the VBS Poynton band.

Whilst playing for Poynton, Tanya was taught by Alan Lawton and feels this has helped her a great deal. After finishing her degree and starting work as a hospital social worker, Tanya moved to the Glossop Old Band on fourth man down to enable her to compete in the more major competitions such as the grand shield and the masters.

Tanya met the band for the first time in September 2003 when she came to play Repiano cornet in Germany with the band at a few days notice. After an intense 4 days of playing and socialising!! She found it impossible to stay away. Following a further few months of depping for the band she eventually gave into temptation and accepted her much loved seat of Repiano cornet.
